Our Story
Develop. Educate. Empower. People. of South Carolina (DEEP for short) is a non-profit organization founded in 2019 with a mission to equip South Carolina youth (ages 12-24) and their families with the resources necessary to lead successful and fruitful lives through the development, education, and empowerment of our people.
DEEP SC empowers our youth through four main pillars:
social emotional
learning
mental health
& wellness
education
job training
& financial literacy
These pillars are the foundation of our approach. All of DEEP SC’s programming is done through a culturally responsive lens that builds relational trust and community with the people we work with.
Our
Vision
DEEP is committed to developing and educating a community of people who are cognizant of their own positions and perspectives (emotionally, physically and financially) and the ways in which such positions and perspectives are interdependent with those of the greater community.
Once awareness is realized, it is our belief that community members will become advocates for themselves and each other; and feel empowered–individually and collectively–to begin actualizing a more engaging, loving, empathetic, and self-sustaining community. What we like to call, DEEP Community.

S.A.F.E Summer Series
The Stop And Feel Everything (SAFE) Summer Series is a collection of events, workshops and enrichment programs for youth (12-24) and their families. Summer brings a unique set of challenges for our communities: children are out of school, and the poorest among them do not have access to robust, engaging programs during the summer. There are many opportunities for our community to be impacted by survival crimes and violence.
DEEP directly combats these causes through The SAFE Summer Series. The goal behind our theme of "stop and feel everything" is to center social emotional learning techniques as preventative measures. Through collaboration with local organizations and businesses, we provide a Summer Enrichment program, community service opportunities, food distribution and community engagement events.
The SAFE Summer Series aims to make a direct impact on the causes of these crimes through celebrations centered around community, connections, and conflict resolution. Ultimately, we encourage attendees and participants to make a commitment to a non-violent and SAFE summer.
